{"id":1692,"date":"2015-08-21T12:34:18","date_gmt":"2015-08-21T12:34:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andreasphysioblog.com\/?p=1692"},"modified":"2021-05-19T08:56:55","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T08:56:55","slug":"specificity-sp-and-sensitivity-sn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andreasphysioblog.com\/?p=1692","title":{"rendered":"Specificity (SP) and Sensitivity (SN)"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\"><\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-body\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h1><strong>Specificity (SP) and Sensitivity (SN)<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>We are using Specificity (SP) and Sensitivity (SN) in order to determine clinical utility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sensitivity (SN)<\/strong>: Measures the proportion of actual positives which are correctly identified as such (eg, the percentage of sick people who are correctly identified as having a condition).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specificity (SP)<\/strong>: Measures the proportion of negatives which are correctly identified (eg, the percentage of healthy people who are correctly identified as not having the condition).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore are we using +LR and -LR when we combine test: You want the LR+ to be high and the LR- to be low.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Positive Likelihood ratios (+LR)<\/strong>: dictates how much the odds of the disease increase when test is positive.<br \/>\n<em>\u201cis the likelihood that a given test result would be expected in a patient with the target disorder compared to the likelihood that the same result would be expected without the disorder\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Negative Likelihood ration (-LR):<\/strong>\u00a0dictates how much the odds of the disease decrease when a test is negative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DOR (Diagnostic OR)<\/strong> express the strength of association between the test result and disease.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Screen or test?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Test there are recommended for test using specificity &gt;80%, sensitivity &gt;80%, LR+ &gt;
