They say that as you close one chapter, a new one will begin. This is a big chapter to close and another to open. As I prepare to say goodbye to Aspetar and Qatar and step into a new chapter of life with my wonderful wife and our beautiful son in Denmark, I want to take a moment to reflect and express my heartfelt gratitude for the past seven years (Time for a new chapter).
Landing in Qatar on my own, finding love, proposing, getting married, and leaving with a small family. so many experiences and travels I could not have dreamed of: Colombia 1, Colombia 2, Georgia, Namibia, Sri Lanka 1 Sri Lanka 2, Jordan, India, Thailand, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Scotland, Portugal, Spain, Bali, Monaco, Turkey, Haute Route Oman, many marathons (Doha, Riyadh, Muscat, Petra, Bangkok), half Ironman and ultra marathons (East to West) and Cappadocia Ultra Trail, HYROX, Al Adaid, Qatar Quest, and sand so many other great sports activities.
Aspetar has been a guiding star in my professional career from the moment I received my first Aspetar Journal as a physical therapy student. Therefore, being able to contribute to an article in Aspetar Journal (link) with Vas and Nuno was a significant milestone (Highlights of 2023).
Even the Aspetar Tuesday Lectures inspired me before joining Aspetar, leading me to create informal lectures (Faglig Fredagsbar) at my old clinic. Thanks to all who delivered and participated in the past. Therefore, it has been a unique experience on Tuesdays to sit down in the Aspetar auditorium and listen to an expert in the field.
Aspetar is a sports orthopaedic hospital consisting of a wide range of departments such as rehabilitation, surgery, sports medicine, radiology, dietetics, sports psychology, dentistry, research, and more.
Our rehab department is divided into four main patient sections: one for athletes, one for non-athletes, one for females, and one for ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries. Additionally, we have other specific areas such as our concussion treatment team (which I am a part of) and our subunits for fitness, sports-specific, and assessment units.
I am happy to have contributed to many Journal Clubs and workshops, both within and outside Aspetar.: Force velocity in rehab, Groin lecture at Qatar University, World Physio Congress 2023, Rugby Research and Injury Prevention Group @rripg’s Summer Lecture Series 2023, Journal Club 1, Journal Club 2,), and the Aspetar ACL Conference. Thanks to the senior team (Vas, Andrew, Abdallah, Enda, Kostas, Mike, and many more) for your trust and encouragement.
I also had the privilege of collaborating on exciting projects for the Aspetar website, including COVID-19 guidelines, updating information for the Aspetar Concussion website (link 1 and link 2) and our hopefully soon-to-be-published article about concussion in Qatar Star League. A special thanks to the rehab concussion team (Matthew, Dustin, Shawn, and Olivia) led by Dr. Louis for the many exciting projects. The biggest learning experience for me has been with the ACL group and the incredible people working hard every day to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. The Aspetar Rehabilitation Guidelines were published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Thanks to Roula and the rest of the team (Vas, Rod, Enda, Dustin, Jan, Julius, Michaelis, and Olivia) for the Aspetar Rehabilitation Guideline, which will soon be translated into several languages. For Danish readers, I made a Podcast serie about the article here. Congratulations also for the recently published Aspetar ACL Rehabilitation Protocol
Thanks to all the external collaborations, Aspetar has also led to publications about BFR and AMI after ACL.

Thank you all for the friendship, mentorship, and shared experiences that will always be unforgettable memories.
