The Effect of a Hip-Strengthening Program on Mechanics During Running and During a Single-Leg Squat

Does hip-strength reduce medial collapse / valgus in the knee during running?
This study evalutated 20 un-injured female runners with medial knee collapse. The hypethesis was, if you strengthing the hip abductors, you will get better running mechanics.
Therefor the runners got a 6 weeks strengthing programme, where the first two weeks they work on non-weightbearing exercise, and then move to a 4 weeks heavier programme.

The result demostrate a good increase in hip-strength.

However this did not have any effect on how the runners moved. So just strengthing the hip, will the not increase the mediale collapse.
Other studies are showing the you need some gait retraining to change your movement pattern. Here I can you use feedback from real-time feedback, video, mirror feedback ect.
