Highlights of 2023

As 2023 is about to a close, I wanted to expresses my gratitude for the many opportunities that made it special. The learnings wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my incredible colleagues, mentors, friends and my wife. I’m truly fortunate to have them in my professional journey.
Looking back at 2023, the year were filled with incredible learning, inspiring connections, and enriching experiences both personally and professionally.

Professional Highlights:

  • Learning: Aspetar provide some great learning opportunities with completed courses in Orthopedic Manual Therapy Course (COMT), Dry Needling through David G Simons Academy (DGSA), Muscle Injuries with Phil Glasgow and Shoulder Course with Jo Gibson.
  • Publications: 2023 was the year I had my name attached to a publication together with a fantastic team from Aspetar. This were a major milestone of around two years hard work. Hopefully it marks the beginning of even more impactful research in the future of ACL injuries. Hopefully this will be translated into Danish in coming year.

  • Conference: 2023 also consisted of several conference. The year started with Sportskongres in Copenhagen where I presented our abstract at the poster sessions. Similar, I had two poster presentations at the postponed World Physiotherapy Congress in Dubai. Thanks to Vasileios Korakakis for guidance and support.

    • I have, over the past years, been part of Aspetar Concussion group. Earlier this year our abstract where shared at the ACSM Congress in Denver.     • In March, I attended the 7th AFC Medical Conference hosted by Aspetar. Great line up of speakers from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), FIFA, UEFA and Aspetar focusing on Asia Football Medicine.
    • Aspetar also hosted the first International Conference on ACL rehabilitation “The Complete guide to the Athletic ACL”

Beside taking part of an outstanding conference I was happy to be part of the post conference Advanced ACL Workshop together with an amazing group of colleagues from Aspetar. Here, I delivered a workshop on practical incorporation for Blood Flow Restriction in the ACL rehabilitation journey. https://andreasphysioblog.com/?p=3698

  • Workshops: In 2023, I were also grateful for being invited into contributions and collaboration courses and workshops that allowed me to share my expertise.
    • In Aspetar, every week is a learning opportunity where can share and inspire each other with internal courses and workshops. I had the joy of facilitate internal workshops for the ACL group in Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) and Velocity Based Training (VBT) https://andreasphysioblog.com/?p=3637 +
    • Hip and Groin: In May, I had the opportunity for guest lecturing at the Qatar University with my good friend and colleague Dermot Simpson where we did a workshop on Hip and Groin injuries for the physiotherapy students.
    • Rugby: Thank to Dr. Victor Lopez for the opportunity to join Rugby Research and Injury Prevention Group @rripg’s Summer Lecture Series 2023 (in cooperation with @USArugby and @HSpecialSurgery) presenting our article “Aspetar Clinical Practice Guideline on Rehabilitation after ACL Reconstruction”. https://andreasphysioblog.com/?p=3611
    • ACL Course: It has been an absolute pleasure to be involved in two CPD accredited ACL Courses with Pedro Castellon Sanchez, Elie Bou Antoun and PhysYour in Lebanon, where I contributed with an online presentation. https://www.instagram.com/p/CzT_ZJzOwyu/
  • Podcast: 2023 was also the year where I started my Podcast. Physioblog Podcast.

After 10 years of blogging about my experiences and used Andreasphysioblog.com as my personal notebook, I started the Podcast, with the goal in mind, of presenting our Aspetar Clinical Practice Guideline on Rehabilitation after ACL Reconstruction article to danish listeners. Looking ahead as we step into 2024, I’m excited and eager to build upon the lessons learned in 2023, and hopefully collaborate with brilliant minds, and continue contributing to the involvement in the field of physiotherapy.
