Do you train your calf after ACL reconstruction? 🦵

Great take always on calf progression after ACLR by Christman & Jayaseelan, 2025,

Few highlights:
A study on rats found significant gastrocnemius atrophy just 7–10 days after being non-weightbearing post-ACLR. In humans, similar deficits persist even 2 years later.
For example, Ito et al. found reduced gastrocnemius muscle size in American football players post-ACLR.

These changes can reduce propulsion during late stance phase and contribute to altered mechanics and compensation throughout the kinetic chain.
